Hi! Well this isn't a bad brush by any means. It's a blending brush...so for me that's the type of brush i use in the crease. so for my purposes-- I need a brush that's a bit smaller. It has a good shape-- just overall I'd like it a little smaller. But it does have it's place for the more sheer looks... just be careful if you're trying to control a very dark color with this brush. It gives you a little less control here.
So size is one reason I docked it down from a "5" rating. The other is the fact that I ordered this online like a month ago and once i got my order, I was informed that it was out of stock. So it wasn't until my second order (which took a long time to get in) that I finally got the brush.
Overall-- I can't be too critical about the brush itself or the shipping-- because it is only a dollar. I like a couple of other ELF brushes i have-- but as far as a blending brush i have others that i prefer.
Pros:cheap, good for sheer looks Cons:slow shipping, too big
I picked up a couple of ELF brand
eyeshadow brushes for $1 each. They are soft, don't shed, hold
minerals, and are small enough to make application easy, but big enough
to make it quick. These would work well for small spot
concealing too. Since they are only $1, you can have some for light
colors and some for dark and help eliminate transfer.
Not bad, not bad at all. I got the thinnest line in the easiest manner I can recall in my makeup wearing years. I'm sure there are other brushes that can hold onto shaddow at the tips more successfully though.
Note- Wash all ELF brushes before using as some have dye and a strange chemical smell.
Pros:Cheap, practical, and synthetic Cons:Takes some getting used to, not the best for loose powders.
Suspiciously fur-like. Holds tons of shadow, not sure if I am wasting it. Really great for applying and not having the shadow fall under your eye or fly into the air. As I rub it on my hand now, theres a lot coming off. Close to my favorite brush of this haul.
Note- Wash all ELF brushes before using as some have dye and a strange chemical smell.
The bristles, like all the brushes, are soft. During use however I felt the ends poking me. This brush is good for those with a heavy hand but I need to apply blush heavily for it to show up on my skin. It could really be more lush, like others have said. The real test was when I applied bronzer to contour. Be careful! It really made a stripe on my face that was hard to blend out just using this brush. You cannot be careless while contouring with this brush. Also, it did not seem to pick up my MMU well. On a separate note- Do I detect the telltale smell of animal hair on this brush?! My boyfriend said it might be cheaper to pluck hairs of an animal than to make a synthetic hair. Grosssss. Just because it is one dollar doesn't mean I'm going to settle for a smelly cruel brush. AND While I washed it last night, all sorts of red dye came out of the bristles of this brush and the Total Face brush! Don't wipe on a white towel like I did. Why are the brushes dyed red anyway? They looked like black synthetic fiber on the website...
I agree with the others that this brush would be better for blush if you have too heavy a hand.
Note- Wash all ELF brushes before using as some have dye and a strange chemical smell.
Pros:Light application, cheap, ok for contouring. Did not shed for me. Cons:Doesn't work well with loose powder, not lush enough. Fur?? Dyed.
Not bad, but also not proportional to the picture on the website. They zoomed in a lot for this one. It's not bigger than half my last pinky joint, and in some ways impractical. It is not meant for covering undereye circles or anything like that, just little blemishes. Since my foundation is okay for covering little blemishes, the concealer brush has potential for staying in my collection as a highlighter for tricky places on my eyes etc. Plus it's better than getting highlighter all over my fingers and wasting it.
Note- Wash all ELF brushes before using as some have dye and a strange chemical smell.
Pros:Small for tricky areas and proper depositing on blemishes. Can be used for a lot of things. Cons:Not for undereye, etc.
Not bad, but fur smelling and dyed red (Which came off after washing. Wash all these before you use them!). I thought this company was all about no-frills etc. Why dye the stuff that will be on my face? Anyway besides my repulsion this is more useful than a kabuki for dusting on finishing powder. Doesn't rub other applications off, even application. It does however deposit a lot into the air if you're not careful.
Pros:practical cheap brush Cons:DYE, and possibly made of fur.
I was pleased that this was not only 1 dollar but taklon, I prefer synthetic to fur. Very soft when clean but during use it it very apparent that this brush is plastic. It made a weird twanging noise which suggested that the bristles were stiffly springing back after contact with my face. I applied a tinted moisturizer I made with MMU and it seems like a good application.
I like ELF's eyeshadow brush, it's not a GREAT brush, but it gets the job done and for a dollar, it is totally worth it. The bristles are soft and pick up eyeshadow easily, I do recommend this brush, especially if you are looking for cheap brushes.
I like ELF's eyeshadow brush to apply shadow, but the blush/bronzer brush sucks. The bristles are hard and it constantly sheds. If it were any mroe than $1, it would be a rip off. The only thing I like about it is how it is angled.
Pros:Angled Cons:Hard bristles, and bristles fall out
This brush was included as a freebie at drugstore.com. I would agree with the other reviewer that this would be a blush brush, well, bronzing/blush same right? I thought the bristles were a little too harsh for my skin,It sheds a little. But, does its job if you know how to apply blush well.
First of all, I'm not sure why they call this a bronzing brush. It's more like a blush brush. I would not use this for bronzer though, the total face brush would work much better for bronzers, IMO. This is a slanted plush, soft brush. I use it for my blush (or did until I started using my Aloette brushes). Great brush for the money. Holds up well, decent quality, sheds a little.
My skin: NW25/sensitive/hyper-oily/acne prone w/ pink undertones.
Pros:cheap, would use for blush not bronzer Cons:sheds a little
I was impressed by this brush by E.L.F. as well. I had never owned a foundation brush and thought I'd give this one a try. For $1 you can't go wrong. I was impressed. Holds up nice even after washing after every use. Applies foundation nice and smoothly. I have seen and used other foundation brushes from say Prescriptives or Clinique and yes they are thicker and softer, but again for $1 this brush worked out just fine.
My skin: NW25/sensitive/hyper-oily/acne prone w/ pink undertones.
Pros:cheap, holds up after washings Cons:not all that thich, could be plusher or softer
This is a very good brush for the price. I was surprised to see how big it was and actually how soft it was. It does tend to shed a little. But compared to other drugstore quality brushes, this one is really great. It's fairly soft, the quality of the brush is much higher than I expected. Good for loose powder, bronzer and maybe blush.
Good brush for the price. Can't go wrong, it's only $1.
My skin: NW25/sensitive/hyper-oily/acne prone w/ pink undertones.
This a good brush for bronzer, powder even blush. I was surprised at how large the brush was considering it costs $1. The only thing that i hated was how it shed like crazy in the beginning, but i think all brushes do that except some shed more than others.
Pros:VERY inexpensive and its a full size brush Cons:terrible shedding when its brand new.
I really dont have any highend brushes but this blending brush works very well. I have another blending brush by Mark and it is not as great as this one. If you are new to make-up brushes i think this is a great choice.
